Poetry Day
Oct. 9th, 2008 07:29 pmSo apparently the theme is "work" so this may be stretching a point ... but then again, if dedicating one's life to enlightenment and compassion doesn't qualify, I don't know what does. Here then is a rather lovely Autumnal poem by the 19th Century Buddhist Nun, Rengetsu:
As a Nun, Gazing at the Deep Colours of Autumn
Clad in black robes,
I should have no attractions to
The shapes and scents of this world;
But how can I keep my vows
Gazing at today's crimson maple leaves?
As a Nun, Gazing at the Deep Colours of Autumn
Clad in black robes,
I should have no attractions to
The shapes and scents of this world;
But how can I keep my vows
Gazing at today's crimson maple leaves?
