Marios Wins
Sep. 12th, 2006 04:58 pmJust looked at the "IC/OOC Offense" thread on the Maelstrom Forum of Rule 7. I was going to respond to Marios but then it struck me that far from trying to engage in discussion he's only interested in winning. I give up, I don't have the patience to generate the amount of noise that he does and the thread is largely irrelevant anyway.
But then again, most of the threads on Rule 7 are irrelevant ... which begs the question, why bother at all?
On the bright side, I now know that the best way to get rid of him at events is to talk to him OOC ... I'll remember that.
In other news, I've mostly lost my voice ... which is weird because I don't recall shouting at the weekend and my voice felt fine on Sunday.

Date: 2006-09-12 06:43 pm (UTC)As it happens, having actually spent time Marios IC and OC (which many of his critics seem not to) I have to say he is very good at being totally and to the hilt IC whilst playing, but treats it as a friendly game OC as opposed to certain players who seem to play to win.

Date: 2006-09-12 10:17 pm (UTC)Which is to say that Marios, Carrie and a number of other people on Rule7 have defined very clearly what they consider to be 'unacceptable' and are happy to define all other styles of play as being beyond the pale.
Fuck them, and the horse that they rode in on.

Date: 2006-09-12 10:46 pm (UTC)When I mention "Taking the game too seriously" I mean getting needlessly upset OC about IC issues, rules and downtimes as opposed to just enjoying the immersion and fun of in-depth roleplaying.
(Sorry for spaming your LJ 'Bin)

Date: 2006-09-14 02:51 pm (UTC)The problem is that Marios and Carrie both define 'needlessly' as 'at all'. If you have any other reaction to (for example) character death than 'Cool - a chance to play something entirely new' they are unforgiving and have made it clear on many occasions on Rule7 and Pagga that you are wrong to do so.
That's their opinion. It is not an unchangable law of the universe.

Date: 2006-09-13 01:25 am (UTC)However I find his "debating" style inconsistent with my own standards of productive discussion.
There are several issues with which I find his (and his crony Tart's) opinions and assertions positively objectionable.
He is not a person I would choose to roleplay, or (come to think of it) share the same planet, with.
Having said all that, I absolutely respect your right to like him.
