I didn't buy the tabletop firefly game for 2 reasons, the first is that it's likely to be a D20 system (I hate the D20 system) and the second is that I do not believe that you can ever capture the same magic of programs/films in tabletop or LRP.
Some can work, for example Star Wars. Why? Because the setting is so big that you can diversify and play anywhere in this massive universe.
Firefly, to me, is too narrow. Looking at the website it seems you play a crew like in firefly, with passengers, like in firefly. It can never be firefly, and there isn't enough material to play really in different parts of the universe, which is the only way I can see it working.
To me, these things will only ever be pale immitations and so I'll not be going.
