Silent Film Star

binidjI'm sure many of you will be wondering why I've not composed a journal entry for so long.
Alright then, you probably haven't but still ...
Almost as soon as I had completed my last entry I fell victim to laryngitis, now for most people this wouldn't be too much of a blow but to those of you that know me well it will be clear why the complete lack of anything even approaching a voice laid me so terribly low. Of course the Fox very helpfully telephoned every night, presumably to revel in the joys of being able to talk to me with no interruptions ... saving only the occasional hiss. During the week that I had no voice (my mother, incidentally, was heard to comment that although I couldn't talk I was possessed of a very angry whisper) I immersed myself almost entirely in EverQuest. It occurs to me in retrospect that this was largely because I was able to hold relatively normal conversations with my EQ chums without any of the awkwardness of actually having to talk. This saturation in the world of Norrath left precious little time for LJ composition so Semagic remained dusty and neglected on my desktop for the duration.
Last weekend was rather pecualiar in that the Fox decided to visit the land of amphibivores (ostensibly to buy an inordinate amount of wine) and I had a tabletop roleplay game on, which meant that we saw very little of each other except for Sunday, which was spent in a very concentrated sort of domestic bliss.
This week I have, once again, been hitting EQ pretty hard after getting a great deal of enjoyment playing my new Bard, Orsino. Sadly nobody on EQ seems to have quite cottoned on to what I thought was a very clever name (special LJ points to anyone who can say why Orsino is a good name for a Bard) so I had to be content with reducing my fingers to stumps trying to consistently twist multiple songs for extended periods of time (for the uninitiated this involves repeatedly hitting specific keys at 6 second intervals throughout the game) which left me largely insane after a rather spectacular 7 hour marathon.
A particularly bright point in my week was supplied by the sublime
Nyarbaggytep who put together probably the best LRP movie I've yet seen. The Fox has been drooling over it rather a lot tonight, not so much over the footage of yours truly as over the version of "What a Wonderful World" that provides the soundtrack to the latter part of the film. If anyone can provide a link to it or send me a copy the Fox would be (I imagine) extremely grateful. For myself, every time I see the film I am surprised by how authoritative Flitwick looks, from the inside he was a perpetually cringing coward ... I rather wonder if Cadarn (who was supposed to be a courageous, self-confident hero) ever looked as self-composed. I must confess to a large amount of vanity at the nice things Nyarbaggytep said about my dialogue on the Pagga board and am rather regretful that I turned down her generous offer of providing me with a version that actually has my voice in it. That said, I suspect (as I have said elsewhere) that actually hearing Flitwick's nasal twang will probably remove any sense of vanity ... so I'm in two minds about whether or not to rescind my refusal.
Anyway, I think that's quite enough blathering for one night, so I think I shall retire while it is still early enough to be called 'night'.
