Solaris

This morning popped home (via Nigel's) to transfer my mum's old mattress (which actually isn't that old at all) to Nigel's gaff. Mum appears to be divesting herself of all the things she's hoarded over the years. She's angling for me to sell the flat and buy a bungalow, which I'm not really very keen on, and so she's 'clearing the decks' prior to the move *sigh*. She also wants me to buy a new car. Given that I'm now only working part time and with uncertain health I'm none too happy about taking on more long-term fiancial committments. Nevertheless, I imagine she'll get her own way eventually ... she inevitably does.

As a result of my morning exertions I was pretty much dead to the world this afternoon, as was the Fox who had been given a large dose of salmonella by one (or more) of the unwashed yoofs he works with. As a result he has been very poorly and hasn't stopped apologising for it yet. I find it mildly infuriating that he feels the need to apologise for his own ill-health while cheerfully accepting mine. It feels inequitable.

This evening was better, the Fox's health improved and we played on our respective computers (conveniently adjacent to facilitate the occasional snuggle) for a few hours before retiring for another pleasant evening watching a movie. Tonight it was 'Solaris' with George Clooney (drool) which I would heartily recommend. It is, perhaps, the stillest film I've ever seen, but with an absolutely engaging storyline. There's no twist in the tale, no clever tricks ... just a fine story, well acted and well filmed. I shall be watching it a few more times in the near future I'm sure.

Anyroad, 'tis late and the Fox is probably already asleep while I write this, so I should probably think about retiring myself. Bon nuit gentle reader.

I can totally see your Fox's point about sickness, it's dreadful double standards, but I will happily look after ill people, but get all feline and wanting to hide when I am sick. Snot/vomit/blood/sweat/coughing/unpleasant smells/gurgling noises/body function etc. all so very unEnglish...
