The Weekend
Jun. 11th, 2007 01:45 pmSpent the weekend under canvas at Maelstrom and had a wonderful time. I could stretch Mac a bit (since I no longer had to fret about the secondary character rules) and had a whale of a time pootling around being a personal shopper/travelling salesman. Physically it was so much more comfortable, when playing Jagular I had an obsession with making sure that not a patch of pink skin could be seen. The net result of this mania was a very very uncomfortable costume ... switching to playing a human and wandering around on Saturday afternoon in my shirtsleeves was bliss! Another unexpected bonus is that I feel significantly better today than I have tended to feel after events in the past, I'm still pretty damn tired and it's ulinkey that I'll be leaving the house but I'm not in the bed-ridden state that I've become accustomed to ... whether this is in reaction to the change in character or if there is an actual change in health it's a little earlier to say ... but I'm putting it down to playing a human for now. Maelstrom: Coronation as an event was pleasant enough, lots of yellow and green flags everywhere ... though I have no idea what they were for; one of the few downsides of being in Sacuza is that one tends not to connect with the unique aspects/plot of each event, everyone is so busy trying to keep the business running that the local flavour tends to pass us by. Actually I'm not sure that is a downside, it would be easy enough to connect with it, we just choose not to ... so it isn't a downside at all is it? Just a choice.
Saw Dr Who: Blink last night after I got home and my word what a marvellous episode it was. This was everything that Torchwood should have been but wasn't and, while for me it lacked the emotional content of Dr Who: Family of Blood, it was streets ahead of any other episode in terms of dramatic tension ... and child-scar(r)ing! Next week's episode looks rather uninspiring, for all that it's got the god-like Derek Jacobi in it ... and, speaking of god-like I saw the Rome trailer ... my word Pullo looks hot! I shall look forward to that with great relish.
