Thinking too much

So this week's offering from Dr Who "The Time of Angels" had me pondering something in the small wee hours:

If River Song wasn't taught to fly a TARDIS by the Doctor, doesn't it follow that she was taught by a Timelord? So does that mean that she is a Timelord who has somehow managed to avoid the whole Time War thing by dint of hiding? Or that she has made contact with one who isn't in the time bubble? Of course she might have been lying and it's possible that the Doctor did teach her, just not this Doctor. Man this timey-wimey stuff is confusing.

In other news, hurrah to the adorable CatpookaCatpooka anf JimferJimfer, at least one of whom is going to have a baby in the next few months. Yippee!

I thought much the same - it occurs to me that the crack in the universe might have something to do with it

I wondered about that too.

I didn't like that the 'vwoorp vwoorp' noise was the TARDIS equivalent of a grumbling brake noise. The Master's TARDIS made that noise and when the TARDIS was heard by the Minyans in 'underworld' they ID'd it as the sound made by the capsules of the Gods (maybe I suppose, the whole sound effect was recognised by their computer).

Overnerding a bit on my part there probably.

Time stuff is brain hurt.

Assuming stable time lines and no big reboots, she's from the Doctors future so post Time War, so there should be no other Time lords about to teach her. Either it was not a Time lord, it was a later regeneration of the Doctor (though she seems to know the different regenerations as the same person) or someone survived. what about the Rani? Romana? Drax?
Though the crack in the world, apart from spawning lots of 'amy's crack' jokes, may be foreshadowing a big dimensional collapse and plot reset.

[identity profile] catpooka.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
fair point! I always have them as seperate things in my head, cos of the personal stuff I say here that wouldn't make it onto facebook!!

It is such exciting news though *grin*

Yes, had you shared the news here I wouldn't have echoed it on Facebook but felt no issue about it the other way around ... funny that.

And yes, very exciting news.

Also of interest is that Doctor Song doesn't recognise the name of Amy, which contrasts with her awareness of Donna. It's tenuous but adds more potential "evidence" that there is something seriously up with the time-line Amy is from, what with 1990s ID badges and such.

Who Knows - River Song might even be the Doctor...

All I know is that I am actually enjoying every episode of the New Who when under RTD I used to have a mix of hope and dread watching it.

I hope she is a Gallifreyan. We know not all of them are Timelords.

She spoke about not wanting to go back to prison and how The Dr might not help her if he knew the truth.

Although if she IS a Timelord why didnt she regenerate?

Do we know for a fact that she didn't?
