The Dark Knight

When I heard that Heath Ledger had died I was a bit "Meh, he was an ok actor and I suppose some people thought him pretty but really I can't see what the fuss is about." Having returned from watching Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight I am now mourning the passing of someone who could have been one of the great actors of our time.

The film is superb, it's superb on a lot of levels but gods it's dark ... really dark. Sure there are toys but they aren't the focus of the piece, however nicely they may have been done. The focus here is on story, Big Themes and story.

Some films you should go to see at the cinema because a smaller screen wouldn't do justice to the big effects scenes. This film you should go and see at the cinema to encourage studios to make more films of this quality.

It's two and a half hours long so go to the loo before you go in, but you really should go in ... because it's worth it, every minute of it.

I haven't seen a film on a big screen for a while and was doubly wary of this film because I have such a strong vision of how the Batman . Joker , Two Face et al should be in my head (regular humans with extreme psychology). You have ignited a little candle of hope that I had forgotten was there.

Having just got back from seeing this film. I agree with Bin about it being a superb but very dark film.

Joker and Twoface both lived up my expectations and i would say that their motivations are nicely done. They are to borrow the phrase "regular humans with extreme psychology" done in a realistic rather than a comedic way.

I'd agree, I loved the film and from the very first introduction of the Joker you knew it was going to be something worth watching.

Not so sure about some of the things the bat bike did though or the sonar tech with the crazy eyes (watch it you'll find out) but then I would notice these things being a geek.

All in all I loved it. Go watch it on the big screen and you'll get really drawn into it all.
