Dubstep and Rolemaplaying
Jul. 8th, 2008 05:47 pmI just knew that The Other Side was going to be the new Pendulum single but, being a fool, I didn't bother telling anybody and then it was announced and I didn't see any point in mentioning it. However, apparently the video to accompany the new single will be available here at 7pm tonight. The album version can be heard here if you can't wait that long. I am all of an excitement.

Larians I present the following Roleplaying Me!Me! though I've edited it slightly:
Characters I've played:
Michael MacMannus (aka. Mac) - Human - Maelstrom LRP
Viscount Melyon Knucker - Dragon - Falkenstein variant tabletop
Preceptor Jagular Brusch - Avian - Maelstrom LRP
Ranuldis Vraan - Gran Brettanian - Hawkmoon variant tabletop
Nimh Dastundi - Muadra - Jorune
Flitwick - Dragonkin - Omega LRP
Cadarn Corvidae - Human - LT LRP
Chelllin Doshasta - Human - Jorune tabletop
Talonis - Blood Elf - World of Warcraft MMORPG
Years spent role-playing:
27
Favourite three characters:
Chellin - because he was a damn sight more devious and focussed than I could ever be.
Flitwick - because he was so much fun to play in almost every respect.
Cadarn - I played him as a cross between Arch-chancellor Ridcully and Prince Philip ... what's not to love?
Least favourite character:
Talonis - the theory of roleplaying online is great but somehow it just doesn't work out. There have, of course, been a bunch of other characters I didn't click with or were just rubbish but Talonis is the one I've played the most who I've roleplayed the least.
Male or female characters:
Male - ever since I had one of my EverQuest characters described as a "mangina" I have sworn off playing female characters.
Oldest character:
Nimh - he was my first character in Jorune and has recently made a bit of a comeback.
Newest character:
Nimh again to a certain extent, since he had to be reinvented to a large extent ... though the character remains the same.
Otherwise it would be Melyon.
Most popular character:
Probably either Cadarn or Mac.
Character you've (made and) never played:
None that I'm aware of, I don't find the process of creating a character much fun ... what I enjoy is playing them, seeing how they interact with their world.
Which character of yours would be most likely to...
Jump off a bridge: Nimh - just to see what would happen.
Get drunk and pass out: Mac - he's not exactly the most restrained of men when it comes to earthly pleasures.
Kill somebody in a very unorthodox way: Melyon - he already has quite a variety of different methods under his belt.
Get married: Melyon - he's nobility, it's sort of in the job description.
Be far too hyper for their own good: Nimh - a danger to himself and to others.
Get lost and refuse to ask for directions: Melyon - he is far, far too proud of his noble draconic heritage to lower himself to asking directions. That doesn't mean he wouldn't listen if somebody were to give directions within earshot. The same is largely true of Ranuldis, though he wouldn't mind asking if there were torture involved.
Get lung cancer: Mac - healthgiving tobacco, it's good for the lungs, gets all the nasty black stuff out of them.
Star in a horror movie: Chellin - the latter part of his life could be very easily shot as a horror movie. He'd be the sanity-challenged scientist working with the unmentionable alien entities to bring about a "better" world for all.
Star in a video game: Well Talonis does but actually a video game about Melyon would be more entertaining.
Make the world a better place: Cadarn - and he didn't care how he did it.
Have a torrid gay love affair: Either Cadarn or Mac, though probably Cadarn since Mac's partner would kill him if he found out.
Relate each word to a character of yours:
Love: Mac
Hate: Ranuldis
Money: Jagular
Seduction: Talonis ("Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me?")
Lies: Flitwick
Tragedy: Cadarn
Manipulation: Melyon
Violence: Melyon
Politics: Jagular
Fire: Mac
Ice: Jagular
Would you ever...
Play a prostitute: Have done
Play a musician: Possible but unlikely, I have no talent or appreciation for music most of the time.
Play a pilot: Um ... yes
Play a character with a different sexuality to your own: Yes but only rarely. For the most part when I do that they end up bi.
Play a paedophile: Done it, there were good reasons behind it and nothing explicit was ever done "on-screen" so to speak ... it wasn't a very pleasant experience but worthwhile.
Play a politician: Have done ... several times.
Create a character for the sole purpose of smut: Yep, done that ... it wasn't particularly worthwhile but it was clear that nobody was going to be taking this game terribly seriously. I forget which game it was now but it was one of these very near-future dystopian settings and none of us were in the mood for anything serious.
