Friday

Well, not such a great day ... the Fox had an elderly cousin (with her friend) visiting, prior to jetting off to forn parts and, being the closeted wee fellow he is, didn't feel comfortable having me around at the same time. Add to this, Mother being depressed and awkward and Friday was pretty much a write off.

Saturday

Hoorah! After an early trip to Sainsbury's to pick stuff up for mum that I wasn't able to get on Friday's trip, it was off to warm Southern climes (well Hove1) to begin a pleasant weekend with the Fox. The evening saw us in our respective spots, he in the living room watching a film2, me in the dining room/study participating in an EQ raid3 both munching a tasty dinner of Chinese food. After the raid, I managed to grab some sofa time with the Fox and we watched TV until he started to fall asleep. After having put him to bed I watched several episodes of Mind, Body and Kick Ass Moves on BBC3 which were, as ever, highly enjoyable; before heading off to bed myself.

Sunday

Up with the lark4 to discover the Intarweb was broken, this turned out to be down to the Fox having switched to this new TalkTalk deal and not actually switching his router over to the new connection ... or something. Anyway, after a couple of slightly cross but ultimately sheepish phone calls to TalkTalk, all was resolved, and we were both able to surf the morning away. Come lunchtime it was time to head off to the rather wonderful China Garden in Preston Street for dim-sum. Despite the best efforts of an hotel to leap into the middle of the road to bar my path5 and the streets of Brighton being just generally bloody on a weekend, I managed to arrive a fashionable twelve minutes late and sat down to all the green tea I could drink6, much yummy dim-sumness and the exquisite company of the birthday girls nortysarahnortysarah and rebbyrebby, and of elanielani, jojo-jojojojo-jojo plus many others whose LJ names I don't know or who don't actually exist7. Then to the Haägen-dazs cafe, where my expectations of small servings were clearly mistaken and I ended up having far too much ice-cream ... it was very nice though. Then back to chez jojo-jojojojo-jojo & Nig (sans LJ) for much chattidj and some games, including an extremely silly Lord of the Rings game in which one waved a plastic dagger at the television ... lots of jeering goodness there! Once the board games were fully underway, I decided to return home for a sofa-bound evening watching The Descent with the Fox. Now some of you may know that I can be quite jumpy when presented with sudden shocks (as happen pretty much every five minutes throughout the film) and, it turns out that the Fox has a violent physical reaction to people jumping and yelping who are sat next to him8. Suffice to say that after the first fifteen minutes of the film, a makeshift cushion-wall had been erected between us and the rest of the film was relatively pain-free. The Descent is, incidentally a really rather good film, but be warned, it is nothing like Dog Soldiers ... there is no levity here, it's all pretty dark stuff (pardon the pun). The Fox and I differed on the ending, he hated it, I loved it ... but then he's got no taste when it comes to anything other than men.

Monday

Spent most of the day just lounging around, though we did go out for a brief drive and a walk9 in between lazing around, then watched Scary Movie 3 in the evening, which was a welcome counterpoint to the angst of The Descent.

Now, just need to prepare a couple of bits and pieces for tonight's Magpie Empire game and nip out to get (more) tasty Chinese food for tonight10.

1 Actually.
2 Usually one that I've either seen or have no interest in seeing.
3 I ended up dying twice and losing three pets (not including the two I lost through dying) which is a new high for my raiding career. Curiously I didn't actually mind too much, this is possibly due to being in a pretty good mood and the deaths really not being anyone's fault.
4 Albeit a particularly lazy lark.

6 Which, let me tell you, is quite a lot.
7 By which I mean they have no LJ, which is tantamount to the same thing.
8 I mean really violent, expecially when he has his legs resting across your lap ... I think the bruising is fading now but by the Lord Harry did it hurt at the time.
9 About four hundred yards all-told but the specialist is keen on me taking small amounts of exercise every day, and the Fox seems quite keen on enforcing this.
10 It's mum's birthday and she fancied a takeaway instead of the usual gruel.
So can anyone tell me how to convince my E2 to hotlink to Palm Desktop instead of Outlook? I've tried various things but nothing seems to be anywhere close to what I want.

Having visited the Palm website, it transpires that a hard reset (as opposed to the soft resets I've been trying) may solve the touchscreen problem but I want to be absolutely certain that everything is safely backed-up before I try that.

jfsjfs you offered a little bit of telephone consultancy on this, when would be a good time to call?

Narf!

In other news, I have just imbibed a can of this new Relentless energy drink.

Suffice to say I am now feeling slightly more wired than an elephant in an amphetamine factory.

I have no idea how I'm going to burn this off without doing myself some kind of long-term damage.

Aaargh!

That is all.
