Mixed Feelings
Dec. 8th, 2004 09:15 pmWell mum finally went into hospital today for her hip replacement operation. Getting through the admissions process (and waiting for a bed to become free) took four hours and boy was I glad I decided to take the wheelchair. Her operation is scheduled for tomorrow followed by five days recuperating at Redhill and then a further week in Crawley.
She's been in a trememndous amount of pain for the past few months and has been completely unable to leave the house so it's been a horrid time for her. Hopefully the operation will restore her mobility and quality of life.
For all that I'm very fond of her, it's so nice to have the house to myself for a bit and to be free of anybody's schedule but my own. Of course there are still tasks to be done around the house but they become less daunting when I am able to do them in my own time ... I think this break will do my own health the world of good.
