So I've stripped out an appalling amount of stuff from my WoW drive and have now managed to download the recent patch. I know this is only a temporary solution and I have no idea how playable the game is going to be in its current state ... but it's a minor victory I think. This is it though, there just isn't any space to fit anything else in so the writing is most definitely on the wall.

Date: 2008-10-16 08:18 am (UTC)I managed to clear 6.5GB, started the install running, and this time it looked OK, so I went to bed leaving it running.
This morning I came down to my computer to find that the install had failed as it had run out of space. Nothing else had been running against that drive.
I managed to make more space by moving stacks of old patch files to another drive. I now showed as having almost 8GB free.
So, I started again, and left the install running as I set off for work. Fingers crossed, when I get home tonight, I'll have a runnable WoW and stacks of spare space.

Date: 2008-10-16 10:18 am (UTC)When I was clearing up my drive in advance a few days ago, I found that old large patches (like 1.8-2.0!) were still hidden away in folders, unused taking up space.
